Benefits of the DAAD scholarships
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), offers scholarships opportunities for Africans and newly industrialized nations with at least two years of professional experience. They can take a Master’s or postgraduate degree at a state-recognized German university. In exceptional cases, they may also be eligible to receive a doctorate and a university qualification (Masters/Ph.D.).
German universities offer postgraduate courses in development at host institutions. These subjects offer courses and levels of Masters or Ph.D. degrees.

The DAAD Scholarships include monthly payments of 861 Euros for graduates and 1,200 Euros for doctoral students; payments towards personal, health, and accident insurance; and travel allowance unless such expenses are covered by another country or source of funding.
The scholarship period is between 12 and 24 months depending on the institution, for Masters, and 42 months for Ph.D.
Development-Related Postgraduate Courses
Through its postgraduate programs that are development-oriented, the German Academic Exchange Service encourages the training and exchange of specialists from developing countries. Foreign graduates with at least two years of experience in a variety of disciplines are eligible to apply for the scholarships. They can pursue a Master’s or postgraduate degree at a German state university or university that is recognized by the state. In exceptional cases, they may be awarded a doctorate and a qualification as a university (Master’s/PhD).
Note that all applications should be sent directly to the course with information about the application process (typically an internet application), deadlines, and any required documents. The application process is not administered by the DAAD or German Embassy.
Criteria for Eligibility
The scholarship is open to graduates from any of the following countries with at least two years of professional experience:

To be eligible for the German Academic Exchange Service, applicants must first meet these eligibility requirements:
* Worked for government authority, a state, or a private company in a country in which they were born.
* A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (normally for four years).
* Achieved an academic degree with high-quality results (upper third), and at minimum two years of relevant professional experience (bachelor).

* A person’s academic degree should not exceed six years.
* Study courses in German (scholarship includes 6-month German language program): Pass the DSH 2 or TestDaF4 language exam before you start the course. A minimum level of B1 in German is required at the time you apply. This certificate must be presented to prove it.
* English courses: Certificate or TOEFL for IELTS Band 6 (minimum score: 575 paper-based, 213 computer-based, 80 internet-based).
