Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung scholarships are available to both Germans and abroad foreign students who want to undertake Bachelors’s, Masters or Ph.D. research in German universities or technical colleges. Studies might be in any subject. The Foundation supports young abilities who wish to advance their own personal development and be one of the best in their field. The Foundation is searching for individuals committed to socio-political goals.

Amount of Scholarships: Not specified

International students from all over the world. The Foundation especially supports pupils with limited financial opportunities or who come from households with a migration background.

Additionally, there is a monthly flat-rate study fee of $300 euros, which all scholars could freely use. Based upon the candidate’s scenario, scholars can also get a donation to medical insurance of up to $71 and long-term maintenance insurance of around $15 per month. Scholars with kids can be given a family allowance of $155 euros a month. The scholarship doesn’t need to be repaid.

The Foundation supports remains abroad during the funding period — through subsidies for traveling expenses, tuition fees and global health insurance, especially for research or study remains, language classes and internships of up to 12 months.

Qualification:

Applicants may be Germans, overseas students with schooling, or people with refugee status. Applicants must be individuals committed to society, for example, inactive participation from the student council, youth work, involvement in associations and NGOs, or in political organizations who are appropriate to the tenets of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. Those who previously have been enrolled at a German university are ineligible.

Applicants must possess:

• sociopolitical engagement and identification with the values ​​of social democracy
• above-average performance in school and studies
• political thinking
• thirst for understanding
• tolerance and openness
• ability to function as a team
• critical thinking
• self reflection

Applicants for basic Bachelors and Masters degree courses must have the following:

• Confirmation of research place or certificate of enrollment at a state or state-recognized German college or technical school for the course for which they want to be financed
• Foreign applicants must also demonstrate adequate German language skills
• First-year pupils (Germans and foreign students with education) must apply before or in the beginning of the first semester.

PhD funding applicants must have:

• Unconditional telling of admission to the doctoral scholarship
• Foreign applicants must also demonstrate adequate German language skills

The application deadline for Masters degree scholarships for global students is 30 November 2020 for the Winter semester and 31 May 2021 for the Summer session. PhD candidates can use at any moment.
